NIAMH O'MALLEY

Within the Artist-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Niamh O’Malley. Born in 1975 in County Mayo, Ireland, she obtained her PhD in 2003 at the University of Ulster. Her work is characterised by a dialogue between sculptures and « moving images». The installation of her works is very specific and value the negative spaces. It invites the viewer to explore the exhibition space and create a contrast between the motionless sculptures and the moving persons, in a reflection on the passing of time. She uses various materials for her sculptures such as wood, steel or glass, and seems to pays specific attention to transparency. Niamh currently lives and works in Dublin, Ireland, and will be staying in Studio Verde during July 2023.
