LUKAS MARXT

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Lukas Marxt. Born in 1983 in Schladming, Austria, Marxt investigates the traces of human intervention in ostensibly natural spaces like the desert or the Arctic Sea, but also in urban contexts. At times he intervenes himself. He reveals that the places he seeks out, which are usually located at the periphery of economic and political centres, are historically and esthetically charged projection screens for concepts like nostalgia and freedom, and above all pervaded with capitalist structures of exploitation. His videos as well as his installations question regimes of the gaze as well as those of representation. Lukas lives and works in Cologne and will be staying in Studio Verde during June 2023.
