Artists in residence, October 2022

Yelena Popova

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Yelena Popova. Born in 1978 in Urals, Russia, Popova studied Set Design and Construction at the Moscow Art Theatre School before graduating from MA Painting at the Royal College of Art in London in 2009. In her works, she primarily focuses upon matter and materiality, using a wide variety of media to open up discourses to her audience. She creates discussions based upon the systematic relationship between objects in Industrial and Capitalist cultures. Yelena currently lives and works in Nottingham.

Rebecca Krasnik

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Rebecca Krasnik. Born in 1987 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Krasnik obtained her BA on Photographic Arts at University of Westminster in London in 2013 and earned a MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2018. She works
across media and in various formats, from photography, video, 3D animation, to text and sculptural installation. Rebecca currently lives and works in Copenhagen and will be staying in Studio Rojo during October 2022.

Ralph Schuster

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Ralph Shuster. Born in 1982 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, Schuster studied at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig from 2007 to 2013. In 2015, he worked in a studio at the Kölnischer Kunstverein as part of their studio grant program. Ralph currently lives and works in Cologne and will be staying in Studio Amarillo during October 2022.

Laura Schawelka

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Laura Schawelka. Born in 1988 in Munich, Germany, Schawelka studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, completing her studies there in 2013 as a master student. In 2015, she received a Master of Fine Arts at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles. She moved to
Paris in 2017 with a studio grant from the Hessische Kulturstiftung. Laura
currently lives and works in Berlin and will be staying in Studio Azul during October 2022.
