Artists in residence, March 2023
Rasmus Eckhardt
Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Rasmus Eckhardt. Born in 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Eckhardt graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Arts in 2011. Rasmus’ overriding interest is man, and his works revolve around the movement of man. There is something melancholic about the works, where we see men alone, outside their comfort zone, in a form of development or settlement. The artist works with moments in life, moments he himself has experienced. Rasmus currently lives and works in Copenhagen and will be staying in Studio Rojo during March 2023.
Jay Gard
Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Jay Gard. Born in 1984 in Halle, Germany, Gard studied painting and graphics at the Hochschule für Kunst und Design (Burg Giebichenstein) in Halle and in 2008 he continued his higher education at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig (HGB). His works range from space-filling installations to three-dimensional wall paintings. His pieces cite – sometimes ironically – artistic, cultural and design-related codes which he reinterprets and places in different contexts, stripping them of their original meaning. Jay currently lives and works in Berlin and will be staying in Studio Verde during March 2023.
Claudia Peña Salinas
Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Claudia Peña Salinas. Born in 1977 in Montemorelos, Mexico, Peña studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and obtained her MFA from Hunter College, New York. In the last years, Claudia has developed a significant body of work composed of sculpture, installation, painting, video, publications and photography. After a residency at SOMA México, the artist has been reunited with her native country. The process of documentation, travel, collection, accumulation and discovery in the artistic practice of Claudia points towards a spatial, material and temporal reflection; it is an intimate and personal way of relating to Mexico, which reaches
cultural and political dimensions. Claudia currently lives and works between Brooklyn and Mexico City and will be staying in Studio Azul during March 2023.
Birke Gorm
Within the artists-in-residence program, CCA is delighted to host Birke Gorm. Born in Hamburg in 1986, she studied Graphic and printmaking techniques at the Copenhagen Technical College (Denmark) and she is currently studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Currently, she works and lives in Vienna.
