Artists in residence, February 2023

Ida Retz Wessberg

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Ida Retz Wessberg. Born in 1986 in Denmark, Retz Wessberg graduated from The School of Sculpture Charlottenborg, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2018. She is a sculptor with a critical and historical approach, working with themes such as the body, gender and immateriality. Ida uses traditional sculptural materials such as plaster, as well as modern materials such air bubble wrap. She has a particular interest in air and is concerned with how the history and perceived values of materials, as well as their internal hierarchies, affect the way we encounter sculpture. Ida currently lives and works in Copenhagen and will be staying in Studio Azul during February 2023.

Emilie Imán

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Emilie Imán. Born in 1992 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Imán graduated from her BFA at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2018 and from her MFA in 2022. Her artwork is inspired by not only her own cultural heritage but also a general fascination for cultures, people and the world around her. Emilie currently lives and works in Copenhagen and will be staying in Studio Amarillo during February 2023.

Sissel Marie Tonn

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Sissel Marie Tonn. Born in 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Tonn has a bachelor in Film and Media studies from University of Copenhagen and completed a master in Artistic Research at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2015.  In her practice she explores the complex ways humans perceive, act upon and are entangled with their environments. She is fascinated by moments of awareness and shifts in perception, where the boundaries between our bodies and the surrounding environment begin to blur. Tracing and capturing these moments often result in hybrid, interactive installations and objects, where audience is invited to engage in a sensory and participatory way with the stories and data at hand. Sissel currently lives and works in The Hague (NL) and will be staying in Studio Rojo during February 2023.

Enar de Dios Rodriguez

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Enar de Dios Rodríguez. Born in 1986 in Ourense, Spain, Enar finished her MA in Translation at the Universidad de Vigo, and graduated from her MFA in San Francisco Art Institute in 2016. Her interdisciplinary and research-based projects reflect upon the production of space and its socio-political and environmental consequences. In her artistic practice the selective process of existing visual and textual material serves as a starting point for an exploration of the poetic and its political applicability. She is member of the art association The Golden Pixel Cooperative and founding member of the art-science group SEEC Photography. Enar currently lives and works in Vienna and will be staying in Studio Verde during February 2023.
