Artists in residence September 2024
Maja Behrmann
Maja Behrmann (*1994, lives and works in Leipzig) completed her degree in the Master Class in Painting and Graphic Arts with Christoph Ruckhäberle at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig in 2021. In her work, she takes up the challenge of putting together a repertoire of forms that she expands through their relationship with each other. Behrmann avoids restricting herself to one medium, using sculptures, textiles, and prints in equal measure. What thereby results are questions of relations and possibilities of bonds. What goes together how, and where lie previously invisible lines of relationship that become visible through overlappings and omissions? The patterns that result add ever-new outgrowths – for example in her first solo exhibition, which was held in January 2021 at the EIGEN + ART Lab.
Recent exhibitions include: fünfte saison, Neue Sächsische Galerie, Chemnitz, 2024, Gegen den Strich, Schloss Sacrow, Potsdam, 2024, Tetrachromat, a&o Kunsthalle, Leipzig, 2024, Pride & Prejudice, Universitätsgalerie der Angewandten, Wien, Austria, 2023, Arrangements: Erkundungsbohrungen, Galerie der Stadt Backnang, 2023, Findling, Galerie Eigen + Art, Leipzig, 2023, stages, Galaxie neuer Künste, Halle (Saale), 2023, relief feature ensemble, New Positions, Art Cologne/Galerie Eigen + Art, 2022
