Artists in Residence, January 2025

Kristín Morthens
Kristín Morthens (b.1992) lives and works in Reykjavík. Morthens' paintings and sculptures explores intimacy, movement, physicality and materiality through organic forms in abstract spaces that refer to landscapes. The sense of space and gravity in the works is skewed, referencing the oceanic, dreams or cosmology. There are different forces at play, not binary forces, but multitudes of queer phenomena that co-exist within these dimensions the frames
capture.
Her works are influenced by new-materialism and post- humanism, where opposing surfaces and materials emphasize ideas about boundaries and existence.

Linus Riepler
Linus Riepler (b.1984) studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. His work explores the complexity of space, its perception, and how narratives can be embedded within spatial settings. Drawing on personal memories, literary references, and philosophical concepts, he experiments with diverse storytelling techniques. By merging elements of the environment, stage, set, and model, he creates immersive, multi-layered spaces that emphasize the participatory role of the viewer.

Benjamin Murphy
Benjamin Murphy is a visual artist and writer based between London and Helsinki.
His current work explores themes of polarity, time, memory, and
contrast – often rendered in charcoal on raw canvas.
Born in West Yorkshire, Benjamin now exhibits globally. He holds
one Bachelors degree and two Masters degrees, specialising in Contemporary
Fine Art. He is the co-founder and co-director of Delphian Gallery.

Alex Bodea
Alex Bodea (b. 1981 in Cluj, Romania) merges visual art and storytelling. Driven by the desire to be an observer of the human experience, she documents and interprets various multicultural landscapes encountered along her journey as a nomad-artist and queer person. Her mediums are drawing, installation, painting, and writing filtered through a particular approach she has been developing since 2012, called fact finding. This approach implies that she builds her work upon field research, direct experiences and direct encounter with the subject matter.
