Irina Ojovan

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Irina Ojovan. Born in 1988 in Chisinau, Moldova, Ojovan’s real-life observations are the impulse and foundation of her artworks. By giving up the figurative image Irina focuses on a linear-geometric division, translating sensations and emotions into shapes, forms, shadows, colour fields, lines and other geometric figures. In her artworks the idea of juxtaposition of “information“ that an image or text is able to give and “non-information“ as information is in the center, opening up a discussion on the artist’s role of an intermediary and translator. Irina currently lives and works in Munich and will be staying in Studio Azul during December 2022.

Catalin Pislaru

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Catalin Pislaru. Born in 1988 in Chisinau, Moldova, Pislaru’s approach is a vivid exploration into drawing based on conceptual construction and free-handed gesture. His compositions are built by delicate, barely noticeable pencil lines intersecting with pigment-thick contours of monochrome shapes. In his latest works organic forms morph into cuneiform shapes. The figurative dissolves into abstraction, yet never fully escapes the composition. Catalin currently lives and works in Munich and will be staying in Studio Azul during December 2022.

Bianca Barandun

Within the Artists-in-Residence Program, CCA is delighted to host the artist Bianca Barandun. Born in 1984 in Switzerland, Barandun has a BA on Scientific Illustration from ZHdK Zürich, she holds a BA Illustration from HAW Hamburg and a MA Printmaking from the Royal College of Art in London, where she graduated in 2017. Bianca’s work is based on her observations of the processes of group creation and social clustering. Through her art, she creates a visual suggestion of the complexities of society. Bianca currently lives and works in Rodels and will be staying in Studio Amarillo during December 2022.
